Animal Control services are provided by your city or county. If you need a stray or lost animal picked up please contact your local Animal Control.
The HSEC offers several services to the community:
Flea and tick bath – $5.00-$35.00 depending on animal size
Microchipping and registering - $25.00
What is a microchip? Microchips can greatly increase the chance of recovery if a pet becomes lost. It is a tiny rice-size device with a unique and unalterable identification number. Implanting a microchip is similar to giving an injection. The microchip is inserted below the surface of the skin, between the pet’s shoulder blades using a syringe and needle. The identification is read when a scanner is passed over the microchip. Microchip technology is similar to bar code scanning and is perfectly safe. Animal shelters scan lost pets for microchips to obtain their identification and ensure a safe return to their owners. The microchipping procedure is quick and most pets tolerate it with no fuss! The procedure is similar to administering a vaccination. The cost is very affordable for pet owners and is a one time fee.
Family pets that have passed away and need to be disposed of may be brought to the shelter by appointment for $10.
In the unfortunate event that a family pet may need to be euthanized, the shelter offers this service for $25.00 by appointment (the shelter can dispose of the animal or the family can take the deceased to be buried).
